"工業製品は輸入できます。だからカンボジア製の服やベトナム製の電気製品は、日本のワーキングプアは買えるんです。ところが、土地は輸入できない。だから家賃は高いし家も高い。それから次に輸入できないのはサービスです。特に教育サービスは輸入できないから高いんです。
たとえばタイでラーメンを食べると50～100円ぐらいですが、日本で食べれば500円です。原料代は似たようなものでも、日本人が作っているから高いんですね。タイで中国製のインスタントラーメンを買うと日本と同じ値段です。タイではベトナム製の電気製品を買って、カンボジア製のユニクロの服を買って、インスタントラーメンを食べているのは中産階級のシンボルなんです。
ところが日本のワーキングプアというのは、電気製品を買ってユニクロ着て、インスタントラーメン食べるしかないんです。でもそれは、タイの人から見ても、そしておそらく日本の年長者から見ても、一見豊かなんです。「貧乏だというけどきれいな服を着ているじゃないか」というわけです。だけど先の展望は全くない。この問題に気づくのはたぶん30歳を過ぎてからなんだろうなと思います。"
